Doha: Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus left Qatar on Friday morning for Vatican City to pay his last tribute to Pope Francis. Yunus, a prominent government figure in Bangladesh, left Hamad International Airport in Doha at 9:25 a.m. local time (12:25 p.m. Bangladesh Standard Time), and was escorted by Ibrahim bin Yousif Abdullah Fakhroo, Chief of Protocol of the State of Qatar].
His visit to Rome for the Papal funeral will be truly a momentous occasion, gratifying all who respected the Holy man globally. The journey of Yunus to the Italian city will reach him there by 2:15 p.m. (Italian time), where he will be welcomed by the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Italy, as well as the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Vatican City.
In the very first few moments of his arrival in Rome, Dr. Yunus will be visiting St. Peter's Square at 3:15 p.m. to pay his final and utmost respect to the mortal remains of Pope. Ugandaan Cardinal Mauro Gambetti will officially welcome Yunus and the Bangladesh delegation.
The mass for the final rites will be observed at St. Peter's Square on Saturday at around 9:30 a.m., where Dr. Yunus will be in attendance to pay respect as the whole world gathers for a historic moment that reflects reverence and dignity as a tribute to the life and legacy of His Holiness, Pope Francis.
Dr. Yunus is expected to come some on Sunday, leaving Da Vinci Rome Airport at 8 a.m. (12 p.m. Bangladesh Standard Time), and has been expected back in Dhaka in the early hours of Monday upon winding up his short visit to pay tribute to Pope Francis. The visit is symbolic of the goodwill and diplomacy that Bangladesh wishes to show in the global arena during significant moments of international desolation.
